On Friday afternoon, activist Max Azzarello set himself on fire as an act of protest at the trial of former President Donald Trump. He remains in critical condition.
Headlines and news stories called Azzarello, a Florida man who set himself on fire outside a New York courthouse, a “conspiracy theorist” who suffered from intellectual fitness problems. He had been arrested three times in his home state for erratic public behavior. like throwing a glass of wine at an autographed photograph of Bill Clinton, according to the New York Post.
“This excessive act of protest is aimed at drawing attention to a pressing and vital discovery: we are victims of a totalitarian scam, and our own government (along with many of its allies) is about to hit us with a global apocalyptic fascist blow. wrote in a Substack published on Friday.
The manifesto-style document, titled “I Burned Out of the Trump Trial,” accuses billionaire Peter Thiel of launching a run on Silicon Valley Bank last year and makes a series of unverified claims. Among them, Azzarello accused the government of being preoccupied with a “totalitarian scam. “In the manifesto he named Bill Clinton, Jeffrey Epstein, Hilary Clinton, George Bush and many political figures.
Azzarello also randomly criticized the writers of The Simpsons, denouncing the education of its creators at Harvard, which he described as “one of the greatest fronts of organized crime in history. “He said the exhibit well concealed the American fact in English.

The man also spoke out against cryptocurrencies and “Ponzi schemes,” which would soon collapse in the economy.
Despite the implausible nature of their claims, such as that COVID-19 was a pre-planned pandemic, some have used social media to unite the man and his messages.
Azzarello posted pamphlets on his Instagram account, which had more than 9,000 fans as of Friday night, that embraced his theories and beliefs.
In an article titled “The True History of the World,” he called the U. S. government “fascist” and called for its abolition. The pamphlet appears in its last post on the online page before it was set on fire.

Azzarello used the account to pay tribute to his mother, who passed away in April 2022.
“I’m immensely proud to say that she overcame the terrible demanding situations of this with strength, dignity, and courage to the end,” he wrote on Instagram.
A year later, in 2023, he said on his Facebook page that he had spent 3 days in a psychiatric ward.
“Three days in the psychiatric ward and all I’ve ever had is my new favorite socks,” she joked.
In the wake of Azzarello’s self-immolation, some argued that the man’s entire manifesto indicated that he was suffering from health problems.
“This is a fitness crisis. . . ,” tweeted user @irishrygirl with snapshots of the manifesto.
