Did Alfa Romeo tease the next Stelvio?

Alfa Romeo said goodbye to 2024 with a “best of” video that included a little wonder near the end. The company appears to have brought LED taillights to the new generation Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which is expected to debut in mid-2025.

The continuous LED strip takes the shape of the iconic Shield grille and covers a giant component of the tailgate. Interestingly, this is the first time that Alfa Romeo has used the triangular pattern, which looks like a radical evolution of the graphics of the rear lights of the Giulia and Stelvio projections.

In addition to the full-width taillights, we also have a hint about the front of the upcoming SUV. Starting with the Junior that debuted this year, all Alfa Romeo models will feature a shorter edition of the Shield grille with 3D graphics via the Alfa emblem.

As demonstrated by the head of design, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, the Alfas in the long term will also abandon the offset placement of the license plate, which is mandatory by pedestrian protection regulations.

The next generation of Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio will ride on the STLA Large platform that already underpins the new Dodge Charger. Although those responsible for the company have only talked about completely electric propulsion systems, given the current state of the sector, it can be assumed that the Italian company will also offer versions with combustion engines, with a kind of hybrid assistance.

Earlier this year, former Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato suggested that the electric version of the Stelvio could produce up to 986 hp (735 kW / 1,000 PS), making it one of the most powerful SUVs on sale.

According to the latest reports, the new Stelvio will debut in the summer of 2025, followed mechanically by the Giulia in 2026.
