Two more restaurants and a national store may soon move to Corridor Plaza, a spokesperson for the progression organization overseeing the transformation of the former Crossroads Mall said late Monday.
BJ Stokesbary of Ankeny’s Crossroads Plaza Development LLC gave the Fort Dodge City Council an indication of what will happen next, without naming express companies.
He said a full-service restaurant is being set up at the north end of the site, at the intersection of First Avenue South and 27th Street.
A national store is a construction site on the east side of that intersection, next to UnityPoint Express Care, he added.
The land near the busy intersection of First Avenue South and 29th Street may just be the site of a national restaurant chain, he added.
Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh is the only potential occupant of the Corridor Plaza that Stokesbary has named. He said a lot in the 29th Street aspect was sold to Hy-Vee last year for the structure of one of its Fast and Fresh convenience stores. said Crossroads Plaza Development had the right to buy back the land if it wasn’t developed. He said a resolution from Hy-Vee was not expected until May.
In addition to UnityPoint Express Care, Corridor Plaza is already home to Discount Tire, Teriyaki Madness, Clean Laundry, T-Mobile, and Tidal Wave Auto Spa.
The developers have announced that Dunham’s Sporting Goods, Maurice’s and Shoe Sensation will open this fall in the former Younkers wing of the mall, which is the component of the mall that is still standing.
A sports hall is planned on the west side of the site. The 200-by-250-foot facility will have space for 4 basketball courts, 3 pickleball courts, and a microbrewery restaurant.
On Monday, the City Council unanimously reached a progression agreement with Mr.
The pavilion is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Under the terms of the agreement, the city will pay the developer $2. 65 million, and that cash will come from a long-term bond issue. The city government will also issue five annual invoices of $275,000 to the developer.
All of those figures have been discussed in the past through the board. The progression agreement approved on Monday officially puts them in writing.
