A construction employee in Des Moines died Wednesday in west Iowa when a tire arrived from a pickup truck.
About 2:18 p.m., Homer T. Carrillo, 51, running over a bridge on the rails south of Interstate 29 in Harrison County, near Mondamin, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Lane it in the closed east lane, the state patrol said.
A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado passed by Christopher J. Kubas, 56, of Edwardsville, Kansas, driving north on I-29 when he lost a tire, according to the State Patrol. The tire crossed the median in a northerly direction and hit Carrillo, according to the state patrol.
Carrillo died at the scene, to the state patrol.
