Derek Sheils wins abbreviated Superbike race at BMW Macau Roadhouse at KDM Hire Cookstown One Hundred Race Cancelled Due to Heavy Rains
The race was reported twice, Adam McLean crashed unscathed on the first lap, while Stephen McKnight in the back raised the red flag after some other non-serious incident on the first lap of the reboot of the moment.
As a result, the race was reduced to five laps and poleman Sheils promptly took the lead at his Roadhouse Macau BMW at the hands of fellow Irishman Michael Sweeney (MJR BMW).
The duo broke up with the platoon at the end of the first lap, with part a moment between them.
Thomas Maxwell of Mullingar third in his Kaaki 1000cc, ahead of McLean and Neil Kernohan (Yamaha R1) of McAdoo Racing.
Paul Jordan, who qualified fourth, languished in ninth place after an obvious mistake at Suzuki Burrows Engineering/RK Racing.
Leading positions were unchanged as Sweeney continued to stick with Sheils, but the race leader earned decisive credit on the final lap by taking the 2. 1s checkered flag.
Maxwell returned seven more minutes in third place with McLean, perhaps feeling a little more after his last fall, taking fourth place at McAdoo Kaaki.
Kernohan and Mike Browne (Burrows Engineering / RK Racing Yamaha 600) completed the six most sensible, Jordan made his way to finish seventh.
Sheils denied the possibility of a Superbike double when the Cookstown hundred race was cancelled after heavy rain began to fall on the Orritor circuit later in the afternoon.
