David Hayton Autostore got rid of the sticks from its location in Morecambe and moved the showroom to Penrith.

The used car supermarket closed on July 5 and consumers received a letter informing them of the change, the Lancaster Guardian reported.

A note on the door also informs others about the move and closure of the Lancashire site.

The letter says: “This allows us to expand our Autostore business into the same location as our Group Preparation Center and the majority of the Lancaster team will register with us there or in Kendal.

“We have been operating in the Lancashire domain for a long time and are grateful for the goodwill they have given us over the years.

“Our company wouldn’t be what it is without you, so thank you!”

It’s unknown as yet if any jobs have been lost as a result of the move.

David Hayton Group also owns an auto shop in Carlisle, as well as Mazda locations in Carlisle, Kendal and Southport.

The family group, in 1966, has been named Mazda Dealer Group of the Year 2023.

He also represented Peugeot, but his French-logo franchise ended when he sold two dealerships in 2022 and two more last year.

David Hayton Ltd’s latest accounts show it made a pre-tax profit of £1. 036bn in the year ending December 31, 2022, down 25% from £1. 387bn in 2021.

This is a turnover that increased by 13%, from £38. 2 million to £43 million.
