DANIEL RICCIARDO can continue in F1 if he agrees to sign for Haas at the end of the season.
The Australian bought him in the final year of his contract for £10m through McLaren and will leave the team at the end of the year.
But his F1 adventure probably wouldn’t end there, with Haas opening the door to the former Red Bull star.
Mick Schumacher seems to be about to leave Haas and team principal Guenther Steiner is Ricciardo as his replacement.
Steiner told the AP, “If you’re interested in us, you don’t hesitate to call me. I’m not going to chase him. “
“I need you to do what you need to do for yourself, first, before you convince yourself of anything.
“I think he’s a smart driving force and I don’t know how he ended up on the stage he’s on now, but I think he has to be honest with himself and what he’s going to do. “
“For us, it would be a great success. He won a race and now he’s unemployed. “
“He won the race last year. I classify him as a driver, I don’t know why he’s not acting at the moment. It’s up to him to locate him. “
Steiner reportedly texted Ricciardo about his long career this summer with the 33-year-old running out of duties — Williams is the other team that will have a void at the end of the season.
And it looks like Ricciardo is still in a position to give up, despite his disappointing campaign.
He said: “It can probably happen, I think I’m still doing well because I still belong [to Formula 1] and I can do it.
“That’s what drives me crazy.
“And the love for that, but even knowing that any weekend can be there [a win], like it’s just around the corner, you know.
“The fact is that the tops you get are so top because there are so many things to do.
“So, the top and the praise is pretty amazing and pretty spectacular. “
