‘Cop City’ Protests May Have Encouraged Georgia Man Accused of Setting Police Motorcycles on Fire, Authorities Say

Mazurek was arrested Thursday morning as the government signed search warrants at three local homes that investigators said would possibly involve evidence related to the attacks, officials said. They hope to force a referendum on the project’s structure, even though it has been locked in a legal battle lately. “You can sing all day long, ‘If you build it, we’re going to burn it down,'” Schierbaum said, referring to a chorus popular among “Stop Cop City” activists. “But if you set fire to police cars, ‘We’re going to track you down and we’re going to arrest you. ‘”
