Congratulations! You’ve lived long to see a $350,000 BMW E30

Mr. Welp.

The BMW E30 M3, the O.G. M3, the BMW par excellence, is in fact a highly sought after and coveted collection item, but a quarter-million dollar sale in a bachelor is … pretty wild.

This 1988 M3 that was just sold on Bring A Trailer for $250,000 ($349,950) was $12,875 km and looks necessarily perfect. But that dollar figure still pulls each and every sales of E30 out of the water. At least every single one I’ve noticed. Everyone BaT has also noticed, according to their spreadsheet of the effects of the auction on this model.

A beautiful E30 M3 of 89 charged about US$100,000 ($139,980) two years ago and the auction had recorded nothing higher to date. Check out the list if you need to see a lot of crazy and beloved car images today, across the road.

I… I don’t even know, fam. These are wonderful cars with a lot of cache, old value, wonderful design and a wonderful driving experience, but, $250,000 ($349,950)! If you sought to buy one in the near future, I’m sorry. You may be waiting for this sale to be quoted after “I know what I have” in each and every ad for those now and even those that are about to go from “dear” to “come on, man.”

I don’t need to sound very bitter, I myself wasn’t on the market, but I’m a little disappointed to think that big cars like this are only used as parking areas for giant sums of money. Just a lifetime of moving from one wonderful garage area to another. I’m sure you can’t spend this kind of room on an old M3 and drive it, can you? Every mile I’d charge you thousands! Or something!

That said, I have some cars that I drive a little and that I like to look at, so who am I to criticize other collectors?

However, it turns out that it is becoming increasingly difficult to buy older equipment. I think I’ll hold on to my Datsun a little bit more after all.
