It could take 12 years for Gloucestershire County Council to install its planned 1,000 electric vehicle charging (EV) points, councillors have warned.
Liberal Democrat advisers say the authority won’t achieve its own goal until 2034, at the current pace.
The target for the rollout is 2025, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The city council prioritized collaboration with the community.
David Gray, a member of the Planning and Environment Cabinet, said the first 130 vehicle charging stations will be put into operation in the coming weeks on residential streets in Gloucestershire.
“Our priority in rolling these out i,s to work collaboratively with communities to ensure the chargers are installed where they are wanted and needed,” he said.
But the Lib Dems say the council aims to have these 130 sites by March next year, which means it will have taken 608 days to install them.
According to data from the Department for Transport, Gloucestershire has one of the lowest numbers of EV charging issues across the country.
