Collision in Waterford sends several more people to hospital

WATERFORD — A serious car collision at the intersection of Bloomingdale Road and Old Colchester Road sent several people to hospital Tuesday night, the government said.

Waterford police, fire and emergency medical services responded to the scene at approximately 5:49pm. m. after a destination turn report.

Officers from the Patrol Division and the Investigative Services Division, as well as the Coastal Traffic Reconstruction Team (START), which includes members of the Waterford, East Lyme and Montville Police Service, were dispatched to the scene to investigate.

According to the initial investigation, a 2005 Nissan Altima drove past Christian Jara of New London traveling north on Bloomingdale Road and failed to avoid the prevention sign at the intersection of Old Colchester Road.

Jara’s vehicle collided with a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling westbound on Old Colchester Road, operated via Ian Hubbert of Oakdale.

The drivers and several passengers transported to Lawrence Hospital.

The investigation into the causes of the twist of fate is still ongoing.
