Oct. 19 (UPI) — Colder temperatures and higher humidity are helping firefighters get involved in the Nakia Creek fire that is burning about 1,800 acres in the Larch Mountains region of Clark County, Washington, according to the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency.
Despite more favorable weather conditions, CRESA issued evacuation orders Monday that remain in place.
The fire prompted CRESA to heed evacuation warnings Monday for thousands of Clark County citizens living in designated high-risk areas.
The firm announced on Tuesday that “140 more means” were arriving and that “four Type 1 helicopters, 3 Type 2 helicopters, two CL415 hydrocuring aircraft and an air attack platform” were destined to fight the fire.
On Monday, the Clark County Fire Marshal’s office released footage of what would be a blue or light-colored Subaru filmed near the chimney site on Oct. 9 around 3:30 p. m.
Witnesses said two men and two women gave the impression of being connected to the cars and the government is asking for help in identifying them.
