Clive Brook Volvo hopes to expand to Bradford for a moment

Clive Brook Volvo hopes to expand to a moment in Bradford after a “really” smart reset after the COVID-19 blocking period.

The Yorkshire-based store has applied for a building permit to create new workshops and a 30-car display domain on land near its Volvo Car UK franchise on Canal Road.

The Bradford Telegraph and Argus reported that Brook had recently purchased the former furniture production site which is just yards from a newly opened Costa café and an Aldi supermarket.

Clive Brook, general manager of Volvo’s two-site franchise operation with sites in Bradford and near Huddersfield, told the newspaper that the new site would “reduce tension at the existing site” in the city.

Commenting on the company’s efforts to cope with the effects of COVID-19, Brook said sales had been “really good” in recent months, adding, “People seem to need anything else in their lives.”

Brook looking ahead to get his business back on track when AM spoke to him in April.

At the time, 43 of his company’s 65 workers were on leave, however, he said he was looking to be 100 percent operational in two weeks.

Brook described the recovery procedure as “financially more painful than being closed,” but said the option, waiting for the blockade to be lifted, would create its own problems.

He compared the pan for the recovery of the COVID-19 coronavirus lock to “start an absolutely new business with hands tied.”
