The robbery sparked a bolo (stay tuned) and several regional agencies joined the active search. As the search intensified, officials also worked to send a call from Levi, Georgia’s amber alert system for missing and abducted children, to the baby.

Approximately forty-five minutes later, and before a formal alert was issued, Clayton County Sheriff’s deputies saw the vehicle turning in front of them at the intersection of Southlake Parkway and Mt. Zion Road. The police officers tried to prevent the vehicle from passing, but the driver fled. The officials pursued him, reaching maximum speeds. Police said the car headed onto the sidewalk before crossing the concrete median and continuing, crashing near the cemetery at Mt. Zion Rd and Mt. Zion Blvd.

The driver ran into the woods but was captured on the other side by Georgia State Patrol troopers.

SKYFOX five flew over the crash site shortly after Johnson’s arrest, capturing footage of officials searching for evidence in the vehicle.

Police say the baby was not discovered in the crashed car. At this point, police say all teams have begun to focus on locating the young child.

According to the Clayton County Police Department, Johnson told investigators he pulled the baby out of the vehicle and placed it in a dumpster, but that he may not forget the exact location.

After an extensive search, the child was discovered in a dumpster in a wooded area of Tara Woods Apartments near Tara Boulevard and Sherwood Drive. The girl was examined by doctors and reunited with her mother.

All 3 locations are within a 3 mile radius.

Johnson will be officially booked into the Clayton County Jail on the aforementioned charges.
