In early 2023, the Township of Chatham-Kent made the capital allocation with a contribution of $4. 5 million. This contribution kicks off the CKHA Foundation’s $9 million crusade on Our Hospital, Our Future: Wallaceburg Redevelopment Project. The crusade will increase the mandatory budget to cover the charge of the local percentage of the community, which includes part of the structural charge of the investment commission and the appliances needed to furnish the renovated space.
With a renewed focus on the Wallaceburg site, the Our Hospital, Our Future: Wallaceburg redevelopment task began with the Ministry of Health’s approval of the upgrade power plant allocation in the spring of 2018 to upgrade critical infrastructure, with an estimated total allocation charge of $8. 1 million. The province’s grant of up to $7. 3 million was used to build a new power plant to upgrade old appliances with new boilers, turbines and electrical distribution appliances. The remainder of the task charge was funded through the hospital budget allocated for investment in this task. Construction of the upgrade power plant began in October 2020 and was completed in October 2022, becoming fully operational after being occupied in the same month.
