Tesla’s records of Chinese-made cars in the world’s largest automotive market fell by 24% per month to 11,456 in July, Bloomberg reported, bringing knowledge of China Automotive Information Net, which is state-backed.

The drop in Chinese records of Chinese-based Teslas comes when Tesla’s main competition has noticed its records increasing. NIO, for example, saw its July deliveries increase 4 times to 3,533 vehicles, according to the data.

In early January this year, Tesla delivered its first cars to consumers of its new Gigafactory in Shanghai, just one year after its arrival at construction.

Sales in China of Chinese-made Tesla electric cars recovered to record in May, five months after customers were delivered to customers the first Shanghai Gigafactory cars.

“The Model 3 has won a very favorable reception in China, not only fits the best-selling electric vehicle, but also competes with premium mid-sized sedans, such as the BMW 3 Series and mercedes C- (even before subsidies and vehicle taxes), reduced operating prices and popular equipment,” Tesla said of its operations in Shanghai in last month’s 2020 quarter update.

Tesla’s profits in China doubled to $1.4 billion in the current quarter of 2020, with $690 million in the current quarter of 2019, the company said in a filing with the SEC in July.

Globally, Tesla Model 3 was the best-selling electric vehicle in June, with more than 35,800 3 models sold in June and more than 142,340 Model 3 sold to date, with a 15% market share, according to EV Sales.
