Charter Hall to deliver new district at Western Sydney International Airport

Sydney’s new Western International Airport (WSI) has announced its partnership with Australian real estate organisation Charter Hall to build a new district at the airport.

Businesses have now been invited to enroll on the site, and WSI has set a strong 50/50 enrollment risk to complete the district’s first tier.

WSI Chief Executive Simon Hickey was joined by Federal Transport Minister Catherine King and Charter Hall Industrial Chief Executive Officer.

Hickey says the neighborhood’s first level of progression is expected to generate 400 construction jobs, and another 2,000 permanent jobs are expected once it’s fully occupied and operational.

“Western Sydney International Airport is the engine of the region’s expansion and development, attracting billions of dollars in investment and generating thousands of employment opportunities,” said Hickey.

“This is an exciting time for all types of businesses looking to sign up for our new business district, which will grow and evolve over time as the airport is built and eventually becomes Sydney’s largest overseas gateway.

“We will continue to paint the site over the next few months, with the first phase of painting expected to be completed by the end of next year, at which point extensive testing will take place at the airport as we prepare to welcome delayed passengers and airlines in 2026. “

Hickey says that, first and foremost, the community will serve thousands of employees who are building the airport and its extensive connecting infrastructure. Subsequently, the community would adapt to meet the conversion desires of airport consumers and the local community.

“We are excited to partner with Charter Hall for the district’s delivery; His extensive experience in investments and progress across the country will be a critical asset as plans to win new customers move forward this year,” he said.

WSI is on track to open up to international, domestic and air freight transportation through the end of 2026.

For more than 30 years, Australasian Transport News (ATN) and its Fully Loaded virtual platform have been data leaders for owners and managers of medium and giant shipping companies.
