Champion Electric Metals announces first lithium drilling intersections at its James Bay, Quebec property

Toronto, Ontario–(Newsfile Corp. – May 14, 2024) – Champion Electric Metals Inc. (CSE: LTHM) (OTCQB: CHELF) (ESF: 1QB0) (“Champion Electric” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has crossed lithium in its first exploration drilling program at the western prospect at the James Bay, Quebec Lithium Property (the “Property”).

Hole EIQ24-007 intersected 10. 0 m (m) with 0. 42% Li2O, adding 3. 0 m with 0. 62% Li2O, 2. 0 m with 0. 50% Li2O, and 2. 0 m with 0. 54% Li2O. Hole EIQ24-008 intersected 1. 85 meters with 0. 56% Li2O (see Figure 1, Tables 1 and 2). These drill intersections originate from the western prospect at a high-priority pegmatite target directly upstream of the ice compared to spodumene grains reported in the past in the discovery.

Jonathan Buick, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “The discovery of a lithium-containing pegmatite in our first drilling program is a fantastic achievement. We have crossed the boundary of a mineralized formula that can expand northeastward for some distance. Our next box program will resume without delay northeast of the mineralized pegmatite, as spring thaw prevented access to drilling in that direction. We are still in the early stages of exploration on our sprawling property, but we have now established a successful exploration workflow that I intend to continue. It applies to the entire property. “

Lithium-containing periods were also anomalous in the pioneer of tantalum (Ta), cesium (Cs), niobium (Nb), and rubidium (Rb) (Table 1).

The spodumene crystals vary from light to medium green in colour and are up to 7 centimetres in length. Other associated minerals include quartz, albite, muscovite, white feldspar, orange feldspar and, less frequently, garnet.

The drill holes crossed a mixture of mafic volcanic rocks, iron formations rich in magnetite and tonalite. The initial interpretation is that the intersected pegmatite lies almost flat and outcrops beneath the glacier to a vertical intensity of about five meters (Figure 2). It is conceivable to enlarge those drill intersections to the northeast, where pegmatite outcrops containing Cs and K/Rb anomalies are located. The Company’s technical team used mapping, sampling, and geophysics to identify two parallel pegmatite rooms that enlarge over five kilometers (Figure 3). ). There are many outcrops and even samples that demonstrate that the pegmatites throughout the room are fractionated with a chemistry favorable to increased lithium mineralization. As exploration progresses along those rooms, the team will look for indications of several parallel or stacked mineralized pegmatites and/or a downward continuation of this initial shallow discovery.

About the project

Champion Electric Lithium’s assets are near the Trans-Taiga Highway and cover the northern extension of the Greenstone belt of Lake Guyer, which is home to Patriot Battery Metals’ Corvette and Winsome Resources’ Cancet complex projects in Quebec’s prolific James Bay region (Figure 4).

Quality Control/Quality Control

The NQ drill core was trucked from the drill site to the Camp Mirage core drilling facility via Vortex Drilling. All drill cores were recorded, photographed, and pegmatite periods were marked for sampling. The cores were partly cut with a diamond saw in periods of 1. 0 m. to ensure representativeness. Each sampling period includes part of the cut NQ drill core. Blanks and lithium-rated reference fabrics were inserted into every 25 patterns. Each pattern was bagged with a numbered label and groups of patterns were placed in larger, sealed bags. bags of rice to a chain of custody. All pattern preparation and test paints were carried out through the Activation Laboratories in Val D’or, Quebec. All effects passed the quality control check in the laboratory and all criteria and inserted blanks gave effects that were within appropriate limits.
