STUTTGART, Germany and CULVER CITY, California — At the CES opening in Las Vegas, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), IMAX, Mercedes-Benz and Xperi subsidiary DTS announced that SPE’s in-car entertainment service, RIDEVU, would create Enhanced IMAX Content. from the studio’s library, which will be available in vehicles, starting this summer on Mercedes-Benz models that feature the latest generation of the automaker’s MBUX multimedia entertainment system.
The release promises to deliver a significant improvement in the visual and audio quality of automatic feature film viewing.
IMAX Enhanced is designed to deliver the signature IMAX picture and sound in the open air of a movie theater. Through the agreement, RIDEVU will offer a variety of IMAX Enhanced films with IMAX’s Extended Aspect Ratio (EAR), its proprietary DMR procedure and DTS:X. audio, available in dubbed languages.

SPE’s RIDEVU service is available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany. It offers access to thousands of movies to buy, rent or stream.
Designed for the car, RIDEVU connects Sony Pictures movies with its complex streaming technology, allowing consumers to enjoy hours of entertainment on built-in screens or on iOS and Android devices used in the car.
Using Screen Manager, users can easily control playback across all screens from the center screen and entertain passengers with individual or shared viewing experiences on up to six screens. Content can be accessed by the driver (while parked) and front- and rear-seat passengers.
