Australian logistics and shipping company Centurion Transport celebrated the recent start of nine fellows from its Certificate III program at Mackay.
The programme has mentored forty-five graduates and led to the recruitment of 40 new workers at its Mackay operations since its launch in October 2021.
Jodie Van Sluys, operations manager for the Centurion Mackay branch, says the contribution from the Saltera Training Center has helped the program over the years.
“Ian Birkett’s determination to work one-on-one with all of our students, regardless of their educational background or speed of learning, reflects his deep understanding of the diversity of our company’s workforce,” says Van Sluys.
“The exceptional quality of the on-site training, tailored to our operations through Master Ian, as well as the seamless coordination and collaboration of the entire Saltera team, has been exemplary.
“This good fortune has undoubtedly led to the expansion of Saltera’s internship offerings to other Centurion branches in Queensland. “
The Centurion Certificate III in Procurement Operations is a foundational program that aims to equip participants with a set of logistics processes, supply chain management, and trucking regulations, while preparing them for entry-level roles in the industry.
Centurion says the program equips graduates with a wide diversity of skills applicable to roles in the transportation and logistics industry, while also exposing them to industry-specific technologies.
The Centurion III Certificate in Transport and Logistics (Drivers and Procurement Operations) also aims to equip graduates with the skills to supervise and operate well.
The certificate is based on Centurion’s Certificate II program and aims to enable graduates to take on complex operational challenges. Centurion says earning the certificate also allows Americans to fill more complex roles in the industry.
Centurion says the graduates’ accomplishments underscore Centurion and Saltera’s commitment to future-proofing transportation through quality education and paving the way for continued expansion and good luck in the transportation and logistics industry.
