Available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, the Lyriq is powered by GM’s long-lasting Ultium battery, which is more complex than the existing generation used in the Chevrolet Bolt.

GM’s chief electric vehicle executive engineer Marty Hogan said the integration of the hundred kWh battery into the Lyriq floor provides you with a nearly 50/50 weight distribution for sporty handling, but strength and functionality specifications have not yet been announced.
The Lyriq will be able to use a 150 kW fast charger, while some Teslas are valued at 250 kW and the new Porsche Taycan sedan can support 350 kW. Hogan said Cadillac opted for 150 kW due to charging and durability issues, as common use of high-power systems can increase battery degradation, and remains confident that charging times will be close to the most sensitive in the segment.
The pronounced Lyriq features vertical headlights and a giant “black glass” grille with perspective-drawn stripes and illuminated ends that create a smile when the vehicle is driving. Cadillac lead designer Andrew Smith said the car’s impressive display represented so strongly what the production style will look like that some GM executives couldn’t tell the difference when parked from side to side.
Inside, there are seats for five people and a 33-inch LED display that combines the organization of indicators and the touchscreen information and entertainment system. The Lyriq also features a truly augmented front demonstration that can assign 3D driving instructions and other data on the windshield. It will be presented with the latest edition of GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance system and a feature that allows you to park in a parking area while the driving force monitors you from the outside of the vehicle.
GM North America President Steve Carlisle said Lyriq’s costs would start at less than $75,000 and that the logo aimed to offer electric versions of its entire diversity until 2030.
