CADILLAC, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — The Salvation Army is known for helping its network and now the network for giving back.
The Salvation Army approached Cadillac Fabrication with the concept of building them their own kettle for their Red Kettle campaign.
The teapot is about 8 feet tall and seven and a half feet in diameter at its widest point.
Students from Wexford-Missaukee ISD Career Technical Center are at construction.
“The Salvation Army, to me, is whatever I used to develop myself. That was the case, you know, we would go to the Salvation Army to buy new school clothes, or we would use their pantry,” said Johnny Jones of Cadillac. Manufacturing.
“I come from a very poor family. So, for me, The Salvation Army represents the other people who come into the community. But it also represents smart opportunities to volunteer in your community,” Jones said.
Lieutenant Greg Bock of The Salvation Army will spend the week before Christmas at the cauldron to raise awareness about homelessness.
Jones said the teapot would be used as an allegorical float.
The teapot will be on display at Cadillac Christmas in the Park on Friday, Nov. 24.
