Cadillac F1 document shows the next step to succeed on the 2026 F1 grid

The Andretti Formula 1 team entity has formally registered a name change ahead of its expected entry in 2026.

The racing organization created under the so-called Andretti Racing has been removed from documents filed with the UK government.

The prospective Formula 1 team initially set up as an eponymous Andretti entry has now been renamed as Cadillac, documents lodged with the UK’s Companies House have confirmed.

The request for replacement of the call, submitted electronically on December 12, was granted on Friday, December 13 and sees the retired entity Andretti Racing Ltd. at Cadillac Formula Racing Ltd.

The company was formed in mid-2022 under the leadership of Michael Andretti, then president of Andretti Global, and Dan Towriss, a director of the company.

Bid to enter Formula 1 When the FIA opened a formal tender procedure at the end of 2023, Andretti’s application passed the FIA’s stress tests (the only application to do so) and was sent to the advertising rights holder, FOM (under Liberty Media). Matrix for further evaluation.

However, the access rejected in direct terms through the FOM in early 2024, led Andretti to seek assistance from the U. S. Department of Justice to open an investigation into the decision-making process.

Andretti’s good fortune in attracting General Motors, through its Cadillac brand, as a spouse was demonstrated in the latest acceptance results.

The initial rejection letter left the door open for Cadillac to become involved as an OEM and engine supplier and, with Michael Andretti stepping down from his position as Andretti’s global CEO to fully hand over the reins to Towriss, a shift in strategy was made to get the assignment through the line with FOM.

Last month, Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei confirmed his intention to step down at the end of 2024, with the news followed shortly after by confirmation that the team, now known as Cadillac, had reached an agreement “in principle” with Formula 1 to enter the sport in 2026.

GM will also build its own powertrain for Formula 1, meaning the Cadillac team will be a “full” factory until the late 2020s.

Last week, Cadillac announced that Graeme Lowdon, the former Manor-Marussia F1 boss, will take on the role of director, having been an advisor to Andretti for the past two years.

Other documents filed with Companies House this year show that the Cadillac team headquarters is being established in a commercial unit near the Silverstone circuit, with an official management relocation in June 2024.

As Andretti’s involvement with the team has faded, Cadillac has shown that 1978 F1 world champion Mario Andretti, Michael’s father, will be on the board.
