RICHMOND, Virginia (AP) – The Colonial Athletic Association has published its men’s and women’s basketball schedules for the 2020-2021 season using a format designed to restrict and expose the COVID-19.
The schedules will be from January 1st to February 28th and will feature 18 games, instead of the classic house and house competitions, will feature groups betting on the same opponent for two consecutive days at the same venue, basically on Saturdays and Sundays.
The men’s and women’s schedules are reflected, with the men’s play in one place and the women’s matches in the opposite place, the league said on a Wednesday.
The only exception to back-to-back games on the same site format will come when partner designated schools play on each home field for a weekend.
“There are a number of demanding protocols and situations that still need to be met to ensure that games can be played in an environment for our students-athletes, coaches and staff,” CAA Commissioner Joe D’Antonio said.
“Health and protection remain at the forefront of all the decisions we make, and we are excited about the opportunity our student-athletes have to return to the field.
Games postponed due to COVID-19-related issues can get stuck on other dates, the league said, and a departure and broadcast schedule will soon be released.
The NCAA has established November 25 as the first date of the basketball competition.
