A busy road remains closed a few days after a collision with a bridge.

The initial incident occurred at the B5000 in Polesworth just before nine o’clock at night. Thursday, July 23.

The police were called to the scene but no arrests were made. He has been cordoned off and the road remains closed.

A spokesperson for the Canal and River Trust, which owns the bridge, revealed: “There has been significant damage.

“A few meters of the bridge wall broke and fell into the canal below.

“Our engineers conducted an inspection on Friday morning and temporarily limited traffic on the bridge for additional protection and damage reasons.

“There is a pedestrian bridge near this bridge that is controlled through the local council. They close it until their own structural inspector can evaluate it.”

“We have a team that compares repairs, but we don’t yet have a date when this road will open again.”

Local rent Paul Anderson said: “He made the bridge messy, one has still disappeared.

“The water must have been running for several hours as there are daylight photos of it flowing at a similar pace.”

A spokesman for Trent of Severn confirmed: “After the damage to our water source on the B5000, our teams have worked hard to ensure that no water source is affected and to assess the damage in order to fully perceive the safest way to begin repairs.”

“A Skoda Yeti collided with a bridge on Common Lane, Polesworth, a water line that exploded.

“The closure of a company has been implemented and entrusted to the council’s highway department. No arrests have been made.
