The Vodacom Bulls have asked their fans to help them try and achieve everything they haven’t done in the past two years when they host the DHL Stormers in another epic north-south clash between these two historic Vodacom United teams. Rugby Championship at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday 18th February.
With rugby’s history between those groups dating back to the early years of the national Currie Cup festival and now in the new era of Vodacom’s United Rugby Championship, the north-south war is described as South Africa’s biggest rivalry.
The call for tickets for this match has already reached such a point that Loftus Versfeld officials hope to be able to open the upper component of the east stand for the first time since 2020 to accommodate the influx of fans.
However, in order to do so, they would have to sell more than 30,000 tickets, which the union hopes will be imaginable given the game’s already gigantic sales. Tickets can still be obtained online at www. ticketpros. co. za
It’s an adjustment that has a series of tantalizing stories.
The DHL Stormers have lately had an advantage over their opponents in Pretoria. The two have met 4 times in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, with the DHL Stormers taking all 4 wins, the opening final of the competition.
But the level is ready for a memorable assembly in Pretoria.
This will be head coach Jake White’s first return after his surgery and recovery.
The Vodacom Bulls also literally took to the streets to call their fans to this long-standing rivalry and sent price ticket ambassadors to Pretoria’s major shopping malls to help solicit and inspire fans to attend.
The city’s community rugby clubs, from Mamelodi to Atteridgeville, also won tickets to bring their ers. An entire segment of the stadium was reserved for Pretoria students to showcase their skills and gather around a specially built entertainment platform in the stands.
Springbok legends Jean de Villiers and Schalk Britts will be available on the right day to host an exclusive Vodacom RED Suite party for the lucky winners who qualify for this award.
And at halftime there will be a Kick for Cash where a lucky fan will have the chance to throw a rugby ball into the back of an Isuzu bakkie, and have him stay there and recover, and win R10,000.
It’s an all-time race for one of the fiercest club rivalries in world rugby, and the festivities will continue after the encounter with an After Party featuring a Loftus Market, DJ and a domain of children’s entertainment on the pitches.
