Building collapses on 700 motorcycles donated to St. Louis Bicycle Works

The most productive form of assistance now is to donate to The St. Louis Bicycle Works or PayPal.

A construction in the historic Lemp Brewery complex in St. Louis. Louis, Missouri, partially collapsed on August 23, burying about 700 motorcycles donated to St. Louis. Louis Bicycle Works. This is a hit for the local nonprofit program, especially since other people rely more than ever on the bike for transportation, or as a safe way to train and recreate the coronavirus pandemic.

No one inside the building when the collapse occurred. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the nonprofit’s executive director, Patrick Van Der Tuin, said he had recently reported on the fall of loose bricks from construction and that a week ago cautionary tape was placed around construction. Construction owner Shashi Palamand said an engineer and masonry company had declared that the construction was structurally solid in recent weeks.

“During the pandemic, we stored even more motorcycles than the same old ones in Lemp’s facility, and from there we work for greater social estating. We are very grateful that there was no one in the area when it collapsed,” BWorks said in his Facebook post.

St. Louis Bicycle Works is one of St. Louis Bicycle Works’ charter programs. Louis. Louis BWorks – or BWorks in abbreviated form. The organization was established in 1988 and runs a Earn-a-Bike program, where local youth, about 350 participants each year, receive information about the protection and maintenance of motorcycles and obtain a motorcycle at the end of the program.

The construction had served as the nonprofit’s main garage for the maximum of its donated bikes. According to the show’s Facebook post, about 350 of those motorcycles were already reserved for young people who graduated from this year’s Earn-a-Bike program.

“Another 200 adult motorcycles went to other local and foreign nonprofits for use in transportation, and another hundred adult motorcycles had to be renovated and sold to fund our nonprofit organization and keep our youth systems loose. for the families of our community,” reads on the Facebook post.

The rest of the construction will be demolished and it is still known how many motorcycles can be recovered.

The collapse of the construction is the last misfortune for BWorks; Just two weeks earlier, the nonprofit Ford F-250 truck, which used to send bicycles, was stolen.

Those wishing to donate a motorcycle can drop it off at BWork headquarters at 2414 Menard Street in St. Louis. Louis. You can also donate to St. Louis Bicycle Works by sending a check to your workplace (more data here) or PayPal.
