Bugatti delays resolution at model time by coronavirus

Bugatti will delay the resolution of launching a variety of models in a moment while seeking to maintain the liquidity of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to Automotive News (subscription required) in an interview published Tuesday, Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann said customers, even those who are rich enough to buy the Chiron, are curbing the splurge of high-end models during the pandemic.

“At the moment, we want to set aside this factor (of a style line at the moment),” he said. “Given the existing economic conditions, our most sensible priority is liquidity.”

It’s just Bugatti. The entire Volkswagen Group prioritizes the preservation of money for at least the rest of the year, according to Automotive News.

In his interview, Winkelmann said Bugatti had recorded record revenues and double-digit operating margins in 2019 and was in a position to climb a line of models at the moment. However, you will still want the approval of the VW Group management.

Where to build it can be a problem. The Bugatti plant in Molsheim, France, is already at full capacity with the Chiron. This means that Bugatti will also have to invest in expanding the site or adding a new plant. One option could be to outsource production to an independent manufacturer like Magna Steyr, this does not have good compatibility with consumers who pay six or seven figures for the car.
