Bridgewater: Proposed Production Facility for Former Route 202-206 Construction Site

BRIDGEWATER: A developer will return to the city’s plan board later this month with a proposal to build a production facility on Route 202-206.

This proposal would have required a variation of use through the municipality’s zoning adjustment board, a more rigorous procedure than obtaining approval of the drawing board’s plan, since a production plant is allowed in the domain and the warehouses are not.

The Planning Council is scheduled for January 24 at 7 p. m. in the plenary hall of the municipal complex.

The new proposal envisages a 230,226-square-foot building, divided into 219,292 square feet of production area and 10,934 square feet of area.

By comparison, the debatable progression plan for The Bridge, formerly known as the Center of Excellence, just over a mile north of the road, required 243,834 square feet of retail space, adding a ShopRite.

But the settlement of the dispute between the municipality and The Bridge’s developer agreed that Bridgewater would allow up to 300,000 square feet of warehouses and 30,000 square feet of dining areas and stores intended primarily to serve the other people who paint on the site. The municipality will also allow laboratories and facilities for studies, medical practices and soft manufacturing. A place to eat from the car would be allowed if it is 125 feet from the road.
