Home ‘Interesting’ BMW’s story is in Greer, South Carolina
August 16, 2020/2 minutes of reading
While BMW’s home is Munich, Germany, you can tell its story in Greer, South Carolina. This is where the BMW CCA Foundation Museum is located, which is probably not a coincidence, also where bmw’s factory is located in Spartanburg.
The exhibition is called “Genesis” and features twenty cars and 4 motorcycles, archival photos, stories and an audio tour that can take you to BMW history.
The entire history of the brand is contained in the exhibition. Things like BMW’s history in aircraft engine manufacturing, its origins on motorcycles and how it survived two global wars are there.
More than that, there are some amazing cars in the exhibition. There is a 1940 BMW 327 Cabriolet, one of nine 1940 BMW 335 Cabriolets with Autenrieth body, a 1965 BMW 3200 CS designed through Giorgetto Giugiaro and depression-era motorcycles.
“This is an unprecedented collection of ordinary cars that shows the diversity that major brands have received in their products,” the museum said. “Genesis highlights the company’s technical inventions, as well as its role in supplying the German army with the two global wars and its resurgence as a peacetime mobility company after World War II.”
Certainly, the parts of BMW’s war history are not exactly the ultimate fun, but the ultimate for history and branding.
Due to the coronavirus, the user’s scale in the museum is problematic. Therefore, you can make a stop on the premises virtually, through your online page or a cellular audio tour. In addition, there is an ebook of the same name, “Genesis”, through Jackie Jouret, which will give you everything you want about bmw history.
As a BMW fan, this museum is a wonderful place to visit, as soon as the pandemic improves a bit. The Genesis exhibition is not present, but also the rest of bmw’s CCA Museum and, if you have the chance, the “Zentrum” museum in the vicinity of bmw’s factory in Spartanburg. Then, in a single city, you can see as much BMW history as possible.
