BMW S RR 2019: the variants explained

the magazine loaded

BMW Motorrad, however, announced the BMW S 1000 RR 2019 in India to Rs 18.50 lakh, a premium of only Rs 45000 over its previous version. At the same time, the German logo has also brought a “Pro” variant and a “Pro M Sport” variant by Rs 20.95 lakh and 22.95 lakh respectively (all costs excluding the Delhi showroom). This is the first time a BMW Motorrad motorcycle has worn the legendary “M” badge of honor, replacing the old HP series.

With a difference of Rs 2.45 lakh and Rs Rs 4.45 lakh respectively, you might be wondering what do you exactly get with the ‘Pro’ and the ‘M Sport’ variants? Essentially, you get an additional set of electronics with the former and a lightweight set of components with the latter. Before we take a look at them in detail, here’s what you get as standard with the updated motorcycle.

The BMW S 1000 RR 2019 comes with electronic parts such as IMU-based six-axle traction control, 4 driving modes (rain, road, dynamics and racing), wheel control, ABS curves and even slope start control.

Pro Variant: The optional Pro package focuses on improving your track experience. So, here you get 3 additional driving force modes: Race Pro 1, 2 and 3, which can be designed to your liking. In addition, you also get advantages from Dynamic DampingArray heated handles, CruiseArray release, and pit lane limiter.

Pro M sports variant: if weight relief is the general theme of the BMW S 1000 RR 2019, it is the piece of endurance. Here you get a special color palette promoted through BMW Motorsports, as well as lighter carbon fiber wheels, a lightweight M battery, an M chassis kit with frame height adjustment and oscillating arm pivot, an M sports seat and Pro mode. This extra reduces the weight from 197 kg to 193.5 kg!

The 3 variants are still driven through the same 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that produces 207 ps (up to 8 ps) of force at 8500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm (500 rpm more). Receive a 6-speed gearbox with a two-way quick change.

Yes, there is not as much difference between the variants as you might see in something like the Panigale V4 and the V4S. But it’s just evidence of the amount of features that the BMW S 1000 RR 2019 is already in its popular form. While the “Pro” and “M Sport” packages will be uploaded to your track day experience, it’s definitely something you can decide to forget right now.
