BMW overtakes luxury rivals Porsche and Audi in EV sales in the second quarter

Who said the electric vehicle market was cooling? Not for BMW. The luxury carmaker is outpacing its rivals by adding Porsche, Audi and Mercedes as sales of electric vehicles continue to rise. BMW extended its lead after the strong increase in electric vehicle sales in the second quarter.

As luxury rivals Mercedes, Porsche and Audi battle it out, BMW holds its ground, with electric vehicle sales up 22% in the second quarter.

The BMW Group delivered almost 108,000 electric cars in the second quarter of 2024. With 190,622 deliveries this year, the BMW Group’s electric vehicle sales increased by 24. 6 year-on-year.

BMW expects this momentum to continue with the launch of new electric vehicle models, such as the i4 and iX2 crossovers. In the long term, BMW plans to increase its lead with its complex Neue Klasse electric vehicles, adding a 1 Series electric vehicle, while targeting new buyers.
