BLUFFTON – Bluffton is the position to be on Saturday.
This summer’s Bluffton Discovery Day will take place from nine a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, highlighting 12 small local businesses and all that the village has to offer.
“It’s a novelty this summer, and it’s a concept that traders have had to create a more festive atmosphere for shopping,” said Paula Scott, executive director of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. “Everyone approached it a little differently. There will be sales on the sidewalk, places where you can earn gift cards if you spend a safe amount. You can get very smart deals and it will also locate a wide variety of stores.”
Discovery Days will come with donations from Bike Crazy LLC, The Black Lab Trading Company, Bluffton Senior Center, Book Reviews, Boutique 415 / Polished, Dough Hook Meat Market and Cetera Thrift Store, Roots through Strattons, Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Co., Ten Thousand villages, country flowers and countrybreds and twisted beater coffee.
Meanwhile, Farmer’s Market will be 8:30 a.m. to noon and Bluffton Cars and Coffee will be at the end of Main Street from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Discovery Day’s first occasion took place on July 25, and Scott said participation in downtown Bluffton was excellent.
“One company told me they had the most productive Saturday in July they’ve ever had,” Scott said. “It wasn’t just bigger than this summer, but probably bigger than any summer. I think other people appreciate what they have locally, so they can pass the city to a tourist for fun. We need to get into this hole and offer other people a delicious day. »
Julie Stratton of The Black Lab Trading Company echoed this.
“I would say more than 50% of the other people I’ve never seen in Bluffton before. I’ve been in business here for 22 years, so I have a pretty smart concept of our clientele and there were many other people I’ve never noticed here,” he said. “We had a lot of out-of-town shoppers who might have known where Bluffton was but didn’t know we had it all. The department stores you can visit, we have many smart restaurants, you can spend part of the day in Bluffton and I have a lot to do. That’s why we’re looking to call them Bluffton Discovery Days.”
