Officials from the U. S. Bureau of Land Management have called for a new version of the land and the U. S. The U. S. Department of Homeland Security is asking the public about an incident involving a Ford F-150 pickup truck that plunged into the Yampa River on federal land earlier this month.

On Dec. 1, a local hunter came across the abandoned truck in the river in an area along a section of Bureau of Land Management property just south of Hubbard Cabin off Routt County Road 18.

After finding the truck, the hunter contacted Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials, but before a ranger arrived, the truck had already been removed.

The river domain where the truck was discovered is the site of a recent multimillion-dollar habitat recovery effort and is on BLM land.

BLM public affairs specialist J. D. Emerson, founded in Craig, said last week that the federal firm has been unable to regain dominance because of the recent snowfall and the closure of the C. R. 18 highway.

“The BLM will assess the area traversed by the ATV as part of its ongoing shoreline assessment work when conditions permit next year,” Emerson wrote in a statement. “The BLM’s Hydrology Program evaluates the riparian conditions of all streams on the BLM-managed lands and there is baseline knowledge from the 2021 Yampa Pleasant Valley River Habitat Improvement Project on this stretch of the river. “

Emerson said if you have information about the incident, you are encouraged to call BLM’s law enforcement dispatch line at 1-800-637-9152.
