Music PEI has added a permanent seat on its board to form the black community.
The organization’s resolve to create a permanent position for a black representative on the board was announced Wednesday at an annual general meeting.
Music PEI CEO Rob Oakie said the organization, which he describes as non-profit and member-based, has partnered with the Black Cultural Society of PEI.
Three of the 8 indexed managers are diverse communities, with a seat reserved for French-speaking, Aboriginal and 2SLGBTQA constituents.
The ninth addition has still been added to the website.
The site declares that administrators have a three-year term and are elected per year at the general meeting. CBC contacted Music PEI to find out if the new seat had been filled.
Oakie said he’s proud of the way the organization is diversifying its board of directors.
He hopes this will be with the organization with the black community.
