Bedrock Completes Construction of Hudson Project Site in Detroit, Hires GM as Tenant

DETROIT – Developer Bedrock has finished the structure of its Hudson proposal in downtown Detroit. Meanwhile, General Motors Co. plans to ditch the Renaissance Center for the new progression in 2025, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.

The assignment marks Detroit’s biggest breakthrough in the past 50 years, according to the developer. Once completed, the assets will encompass more than 1. 5 million feet of retail, office, dining, hospitality, residential and event space. Bedrock recently announced on its social media platforms that the call for progression is now the Detroit of Hudson.

The structure of the task at the former J. L. Hudson site began in 2017. Setbacks such as unforeseen underground obstructions and design tweaks have propelled progress well beyond its original schedule, Crain’s reports. Originally proposed at 734 feet, the tower now stands at 680 feet.

GM’s current home, RenCen, is Detroit’s tallest building and has suffered since the pandemic. Bedrock and GM plan to spend the next year figuring out what to do with the 5. 5 million-square-foot property, according to Crain’s.
