Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police arrested a rider who crashed his car into a location and tried to defraud police by sending his driver to take charge of the accident.
The boy Srikanth E, a resident of Madhapur, had gone to a pub on Monday night and had been drinking alcohol with his friends. After the party, Srikanth left in a BMW car and dropped off his friend in Punjagutta. While crossing segment 3 of On the Banjara Hills road, he crashed his car into a devotee’s wall and fled.
While the police were making efforts to trace the driver one person Nagarjuna came to the police station and told the police that he was driving the car and caused the accident.
An hour later Srikanth turned up at the police station and started interacting with Nagarjuna. When police questionned about an injury on his hand Srikanth could not give a satisfactory reply leading to suspicion.
The police checked the closed circuit cameras in the vicinity of the accident spot and found that Srikanth was driving the car and Nagarjuna was no where around when the incident happened.
The police questioned Srikanth very well and he admitted that he had asked Nagarjuna to be guilty of the twist of fate and that he would bear all the legal expenses.
The police registered a complaint against Srikanth under other sections of the IPC and arrested him.
