Usa: Smart City Accelerator US Ignite has decided that First Transit and Perrone Robotics provide independent shuttles for a wise assignment of transportation control beds at fort Carson military base in Colorado.
The $4 million allocation is funded and controlled through the U.S. Army Army’s Center for Engineering Research and Development.
First Transit is the source and operation of two Polaris GEM autonomous shuttles that will be custom-configured through Perrone Robotics using its To Navigate You autonomy kit. The ferries will have the capacity independent of point five, but will be supplied with manual controls so that an on-board operator can seamlessly transfer between manual and fully autonomous operation.
The ferries will send infantry soldiers while gathering operational knowledge as a component of the one-year pilot, which aims to expand a comprehensive implementation plan for scaling autonomous vehicle technologies on army facilities.
The task focuses on the development of transportation plans, as well as knowledge analysis, evaluation and modeling for long-term stand-alone round-trip deployments. In addition to sensors and cameras in vehicles, road cameras will be installed and connected to a compromised wireless network along the direction to capture data on the behavior of vehicles and pedestrians around AV.
