Audi introduces the Q4 Sportback e-tron with a softer roof line

The Q4 electric compact SUV is treated for cutting; will go into production next year and be close to what you see here.

Audi is expanding its EV lineup to seven models with another variant of a vehicle it’s already announced. The all-electric Q4 e-tron compact SUV will now have a Sportback version that trades storage space for a slicker design. Both vehicles will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s electric MEB platform and have identical powertrains. They’ll also have nearly identical dimensions. The just-unveiled Sportback is a half-inch longer.

From the front, the vehicle looks almost identical, but the profile shows a downward slope that starts just before the A-mount similar to the one we saw in the original Sportback e-tron. The Q4 Sportback has a larger wing. In a presentation for the upcoming Q4 Sportback, the automaker said the vehicle had advanced in power with the dynamic line of the roof and completed the feat without wasting too much rear margin. Audi didn’t focus the margin numbers, so we’ll know more once we put a tall user on the back in 2021.

In terms of efficiency, the aerodynamic coefficient of the Q4 Sportback e-tron is 0.26. It is a total of 0.01 below the normal E-tron Q4. On the road, however, the all-wheel drive Sportback points to the same 280-mile diversity based on the European WLTP that Audi has announced for the normal Q4 e-tron. A rear-wheel drive edition of the electric vehicle points to a 310-mile diversity in the European WLTP cycle. All will be supplied with the same 82.0 kWh battery. Once the EPA has any of the vehicles in its hands, we may see if those drag differences correspond to greater diversity.

Like its boxer brother, the Q4 Sportback e-tron will produce three hundred horsepower, and Audi has a time of 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and a more sensitive speed of 111 mph.

On one occasion with the Sportback, Audi said the vehicle’s design was quite complete. So what you see here is essentially what it will look like in the showrooms after the vehicle comes into production in 2021. In addition to using cut taste signals for the reduction of the rear roof line, the new design also complements the protruding shoulder line that starts just below the back. bezel and wears on the back of the SUV, creating an eyebrow above the taillights. The look is reminiscent of the giant shoulder wings discovered on the back of the giant American sedans of the 1950s and 1960s.

Audi has not announced U.S. value for the E-tron Q4 Sportback. But we have a concept of where it will end. The Q4 e-tron supposedly starts at $45,000, and at the presentation, Audi said it was looking to keep the European edition of the Sportback at less than 40,000 euros, which equates to around $45,000. Its value will probably be similar to that of the most classic electric SUV. If Audi set the same value for any of the Q4 e-tron variants, it would be a selection for prospective buyers.
