Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa will be ruled out until four weeks before the FA Cup match against Chelsea.
Unai Emery settled on the 26-year-old in every Villa game this season before he was sent off due to a knee injury in the recent 5-0 win at Sheffield United.
Konsa has been reported to be out for a significant period of time, but Emery said ahead of the round four replay against Chelsea that he is expected to return later this month.
“He’s injured,” Emery said Tuesday.
“He’s sprained his knee and probably won’t be available for 3 or 4 weeks or so. “
Chelsea themselves will have a really large number of players, and defenders Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill will not be available for the national team. Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Robert Sanchez are also injured.
Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne will be absent for Villa, while Nicolo Zaniolo is doubtful. Pau Torres will return from injury to be part of the team, but Emery has ruled him out of Wednesday’s game at Villa Park.
“The players will be out tomorrow,” he continued.
“Lucas Digne is progressing but he’s absent. Pau Torres has trained with the squad and will be on the bench. “
