Aston Villa icon Gabriel Agbonlahor says Unai Emery will have plenty to do when he takes over as head coach a week after a 4-0 thrashing at Newcastle United.
Callum Wilson scored on both sides of the match to give the hosts before Joelinton and Miguel Almiron added two more goals in the current period. The defeat leaves Villa dangerously close to the third side after accumulating only 12 points in thirteen league games.
“Today it looked like an Aston Villa team, we saw Steven Gerrard,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. “They played at Chelsea and deserved to win this game with the opportunities they had, then they played the next game [against Fulham] and they were terrible.

“Then they win 4-0 with Brentford, then today it’s a poor Aston Villa. Where was that power last week, that commitment?It looked like a team that needed a new coach to get around those players.
“And decide the players you need to stay and the players you need to change, because today is a blow. I haven’t noticed Aston Villa being hit like this in a long time. “
Emery did not participate in St James’ Park, where Aaron Danks handles team affairs, but reportedly watched the game before gathering his players on Tuesday. Their first game in time will be Manchester United’s stopover at Villa Park next Sunday.
