Aston Martin’s first SUV comes off the line

If there’s a better indication that the SUV is king in those days, look no further than sports car manufacturer Aston Martin despite everything built on its first crossover, the DBX.

Just over 4 years after Aston Martin introduced its production plant in Wales, the first DBX is despite everything that comes out of the new site’s production line, marking two major “firsts” for the British brand. In addition to being the first Aston Martin SUV, it is also the first to be “Made in Wales” for the brand.

The first DBX has everything that was said about the vehicle last November, starting with the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine with approximately 542 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, along with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The rugged engine also has a towing capacity of up to 2.7 tons, anything that no other Aston Martin style is able to do.

The DBX also has some very impressive numbers to match its much sleeker saloon siblings: a 0-100km/h time of about 4.5 seconds, and gravity-defying top speed of 290 km/h.

A all-wheel drive formula is added for a smart measure, a feature that Aston Martin hopes will allow the company to identify in markets where weather or terrain might be less lenient for rear-wheel drive sports cars.

The transparent emphasis on a spacious and sumptuous cabin, whether sitting at the front or rear, will also allow Aston Martin to be more successful in visitors who prefer to drive than drive. The leather-lined interior, with wooden embellishments and metallic touches, ensures that each occupant is covered in pure elegance. Rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 configuration for convenient storage.

A 10.25-inch infotainer screen is in the center of the dashboard, while a 12.3-inch display in the meter organization provides data about the ride. Standard features come with Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera and 64-color interior lighting.

Although it is a departure from the same fanfare of the British brand, the car manufacturer promises that the DBX is an Aston Martin from start to finish. About 80% of production goes to foreign markets, underlining DBX’s importance to Aston Martin in terms of the brand’s profitability goals.

“We are incredibly proud of our first SUV, which is as Aston Martin as any of our sports cars,” said Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Artistic Director of Aston Martin. “From my design team to the engineers, the vehicle dynamics team and all the experts who make this beautiful car here at St Athan, the DBX has the car that will take Aston Martin into an ambitious new era.”

Aston Martin shows that there have been 2,000 orders for the DBX and that the first deliveries of the vehicle to consumers will begin later this month, according to the schedule.

It is still known when the SUV will start delivering on our shores. Aston Martin PH recently has 4 models in its local range: the Vantage, the DB11, the DBS Superleggera and the Rapide S.
