Aston Martin has affirmed its sponsorship commitment to Formula 1 until at least 2030, with Lawrence Stroll saying the game has helped “transform” its business.
Aston Martin took over the naming rights to the former Force India and Racing Point team at Silverstone in 2021, and the team’s squad will remain on the grid as it looks to continue its momentum.
Chief executive Stroll helped fund a significant amount of infrastructure spending at Aston Martin F1, which saw the team move to a new factory, which includes its own wind tunnel and facilities.
The deal to extend its sponsorship commitments also saw Aston Martin Lagonda, the parent company, take the option to take a roughly £20 million stake in the team.
Aston Martin has made significant strides on track in recent seasons, having been the wonder at the start of 2023 after moving from the lower midfield to a normal podium contender thanks to Alonso.
“Formula 1 has helped the nature of the business and set benchmarks for us in terms of functionality and credibility by integrating it into our road cars,” Stroll said at an Aston Martin strategic event at Gaydon headquarters, as reported by The Times.
