Aston Martin has revealed a new series of photographs showing the upcoming Valhalla hypercar at the Silverstone circuit.
The Valhalla 998 horsepower comes from a twin-turbo V8 and a plug-in hybrid system.
Aston Martin will build 999 examples of the Valhalla and it is expected to enter service in 2024.
If you’re aware of all the other hypercar projects Aston Martin has recently launched, we’re sympathetic. There are only two of them, but they have names inspired by Norse mythology, so let’s make this clear. There’s Adrian Newey’s creation called Valkryie, which was originally called AM-RB 001. It produces an immense 1,139 horsepower with its V-12 hybrid powertrain. Then there’s the next Valhalla you see here, which began life as AM-RB 003.
Think of the Valkryie as Aston Martin’s definitive vision of what a hypercar can be, and the Valhalla as a (barely) more readily available track weapon. Valhalla has been more or less shrouded in fog until now, the company has just released a new set of photographs showing the car’s testing at Silverstone. The photographs appear as Aston Martin begins a more competitive phase of real-world testing for the upcoming hypercar.
The Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4. 0-liter twin-turbo V8 sends power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It is paired with a set of 3 electric motors, adding one in the transmission, to deliver the combined performance of Valhalla. production at 998 horsepower.
Like the Valkyrie before it, the Valhalla will be built in limited numbers. Aston Martin has kept the Valkyrie incredibly exclusive, offering 150 construction sites around the world. Valhalla will be more available to the bourgeoisie. . . well, a little bit. There will still be 999 of them, and initial costs are expected to be around $800,000. According to Aston Martin, the Valhalla is still on track to go into production in 2024.
