Aston Martin has struck a deal for Arctos Partners to have an undisclosed stake in the team, now valued at around £1 billion.
As part of the new component, Arctos, which has significant experience in sports investing, will provide Aston Martin with deep knowledge of the sports industry and a network of influential relationships for its continued growth.
The deal will give Arctos a minority stake in AMR Holdings GP Limited (“AMR”), the team’s corporate holding company and, according to the Financial Times, values the team at £1 billion.
The investment is expected to close by the end of the year, with Arctos being the first and only professional investment platform approved to invest in franchises in MLB, NBA, MLS, NHL and European soccer, among other sports.
Arctos brings strategic strength, deep links and key learnings at a time when the Silverstone-based team is making immediate progress.
In the coming months, the team will complete its AMR generation campus with the opening of a new wind tunnel and more engineering services – key milestones as the team makes positive progress towards building its position at the forefront of the grid.
“I am very pleased to welcome Arctos Partners as the new spouse and minority shareholder of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula 1 Team,” said Lawrence Stroll. “As an investor in several leading sports franchises, Arctos brings a deep understanding of the industry and I am very pleased to have Aston Martin join such a prestigious portfolio. The team has enjoyed great luck this season with 8 podiums and our biggest struggles as a team, but our collective ambition is greater.
“Arctos sees the prospects and value of this task as we continue to build a world-class Formula 1 team. They share our vision for our ultra-luxury logo and are incredibly passionate about the game and its prospects. We are making an investment in infrastructure, other people and processes, and now is the best time to deepen the operational and strategic expertise of Arctos. Together, we will continue to propel this team forward and build an even brighter, richer future. “
“We look forward to racing with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One team and see this opportunity as the beginning of a long-term partnership with Lawrence and the entire organization,” added Doc O’Connor, Managing Partner at Arctos Partners. “This investment is in line with our company’s strategy, which aims to support leading sports brands in North America and Europe.
“We will offer extensive resources for the success and logo of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One team, adding industry insights from our proprietary platform of quantitative research and knowledge science. The Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team is a leading brand in Formula 1, one of the fastest-developing games in the United States, and we are indeed excited to enter the game together with Lawrence and his team. “
