This year of 25 ambitious, adaptable …

The first Aston Martin built in Wales came off the production line.

The first DBX ended at the Warwickshire-based company’s St Athan base, which opened in December 2019.

It’s been more than 4 years since the luxury automaker announced plans to build the production plant.

Keith Stanton, interim chief operating officer, said: “It is a real privilege to be here to witness the final touch of Aston Martin DBX’s first production.

“I am incredibly proud of the Aston Martin team who worked so hard to turn this former Ministry of Defense site into a world-class car production facility, to now produce cars, is a testament to everyone’s endurance and courage. At Aston Martin.

“It is an honor to see the first DBX come off the line and my only regret is that not everyone who works for this logo can be here to witness it.”

Executive Vice President and Ceo Marek Reichman added: “We are incredibly proud of our first SUV, which is as Aston Martin as any of our cars.

“From my design team to the engineers, the vehicle dynamics team and all the experts who craft this beautiful car here at St Athan, the DBX has the car that will take Aston Martin into an ambitious new era.

The first deliveries of DBX to consumers will begin at the end of this month.

Economy, Transport and North Wales Ken Skates said: “This is a historic moment for Aston Martin and Wales. It is also a great victory for the attitude of the Welsh Government.”

“The DBX is an exceptional vehicle for one of the world’s most sumptuous car brands, and will be at the heart of the expansion plan and ambitions for the future of this iconic company.

“I couldn’t be more proud to see this SUV manufactured in Wales and off the production line.

“It says a lot about the determination and skills of the world class that we have here in Wales.”
