Just over 4 years after Aston Martin announced his investment in a new logo production plant in St Athan, Wales, the first Aston Martin in ‘Made in Wales’ has been ejected from the production line.
The culmination of an extensive progression program that began with a virtual progression dating back to 2015 and physical testing in Wales in 2018, DBX marks a new era in Aston Martin’s quest to deliver exceptional functionality, taste and ease of use in a segment in the unexplored past throughout the world’s leading manufacturer. Offering the versatility and indulgence you’d expect from a luxury SUV with dynamic levels of sports car functionality, DBX establishes a new ambitious industry in this industry.
With its all-wheel drive system, DBX is a car that will allow the company to increase its presence in markets where perhaps the weather or terrain is less conducive to rear-wheel drive sports cars. The transparent emphasis on a spacious and sumptuous cabin, whether sitting at the front or rear, will also allow Aston Martin to be more successful in visitors who prefer to drive than drive.
Keith Stanton, Interim Chief Operating Officer of Aston Martin, said: “It’s a real privilege to be here today to witness the finishing touch of Aston Martin DBX’s first production. I am incredibly proud of the Aston Martin team who worked so hard to remodel this former Ministry of Defense site at a world-class car production facility, to now produce automobiles, is a testament to the endurance and courage of everyone at Aston Martin. It is an honor to see the first DBX coming out of the line and my only regret is that not everyone who works for this logo can be here to witness it.”
The DBX is a true Aston Martin; Capture the spirit of the logo as a beautiful handmade but technologically complex car. With approximately 80% of the production expected to be exported and sold abroad, this is a style for Aston Martin and a transparent representation of the strength of British production capabilities.
Marek Reichman, executive vice president and artistic director of Aston Martin, who was at St Athan to witness the finishing touch of the first SUV designed through his team, said, “We are incredibly proud of our first SUV, which is both an Aston Martin and any of our sports cars. From my design team to the engineers, the vehicle dynamics team and all the experts who make this beautiful car here at St Athan, the DBX has the car that will lead Aston Martin into an ambitious new era.
Economy, Transport and North Wales Ken Skates said: “This is a historic moment for Aston Martin and Wales. It is also a massive victory for the attitude of the Welsh Government.
“The DBX is an exceptional vehicle for one of the world’s most sumptuous car brands, and will be at the heart of this iconic company’s expansion plan and ambitions for the future.
“I could not be more proud to see this fantastic SUV being made in Wales and rolling off the production line. It also speaks volumes for the dedication and skills of the world class work force we have right here in Wales.”
