More than 130 people with notable warrants were arrested last month in a “fall sweep” by police.
The 131 wanted parties were facing a combined total of 323 charges.
Additional criminal charges were imposed on 61 people following their arrest and $158,390 worth of illegal drugs were seized.
The North Bay Police Service and the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have joined forces in a month-long task called “Fall Sweep” to identify and arrest wanted individuals in the North Bay area. Bay.
Const. Merv Shantz of the North Bay Police Service said this initiative was a “success.”
“We are actively and consistently on behalf of other people who have mandates for them, however, when it comes to expressing projects like this, we have done one in the spring and one in the fall. We can set up those projects whenever we deem it necessary.
Similar to the spring initiative, this initiative focused on offenders prosecuted with notable warrants for a variety of crimes, adding fees for failure to appear in court, failure to comply with release orders, robbery, assault, drugs, and weapons.
“This was a collaborative effort between our two agencies where information was shared resulting in the arrest of individuals who were evading arrest. Those individuals were located, arrested and brought before the courts to answer to the charges. The hard work of our policing professionals resulted in a successful initiative and the results speak for themselves” says North Bay Police Service Inspector of Operations, Jeff Warner.

Of the other 131 people arrested, 57 were detained for a bond hearing, 55 were released on parole and 19 were released after appearing.
