STREET. CLAIR SHORES — In a 7-0 vote at the St. Louis City Council meeting, the Spaniards will be able to meet with the S. Clair Shores on July 15, a site plan was approved for external renovations of the former Pizza Hut restaurant located at 24200 Harper Avenue.
John Vitale, CEO and president of Stucky Vitale Architects, brought the item and said he represented the developer who has a new tenant for the old Pizza Hut lot. John Vitale said they plan to remove the entire roof from the building and rebuild it with new ones and a new façade.
“Creating a more upscale look, you know, getting rid of that Pizza Hut shape is what we need to do,” he said.
He also said they will offer a yard at Harper’s.
“We’re thrilled to see this tenant, he’s a national tenant,” John Vitale said. “Unfortunately, I can’t reveal the exact tenant, but (it will probably be) a Mexican-style restaurant, as I understand it. “
Councilman Ronald Frederick said that during his visit it appeared that the patio was far enough away from the sidewalk and traffic on Harper, which was a fear of the St. John’s. Clair Shores Planning Commission.
“I hope they clean up the parking lot a little bit and of course the landscaping and all that,” Frederick said.
John Vitale proved that they will clean up the parking lot and landscaping.
Frederick kept asking if the courtyard would have a door from the inside, which John confirmed.
“There’s a window in front, but part of that window formula will come with a new door,” Vitale said.
Federico made a decision about the support.
“It’s incredible,” Federico said. “Excited about it. “
Mayor Pro Tem and Councilwoman Canidce Rusie asked about the restaurant’s timeline and opening date.
“My understanding is they’ll probably start structuring once everything is finalized and they’re done until spring,” John Vitale said.
Councilman Chris Vitale, who is not similar to John, said he was pleased to see the construction given a new life. He also talked about an online page that documents the buildings that were once a Pizza Hut.
“Because the roof lines are unique and no one has the money to tear them down,” Chris said. “That’s why it’s smart to know that ours won’t be appearing on this blog anytime soon. Good luck with that. ”
Councilmember Dave Rubello changed John Vitale’s brain to take into account the citizens who live in the building when it comes to the lighting they have. John Vitale said they plan to verify this.
Chris Vitale also reminded citizens and council members that they denied a rezoning request for a car wash two years ago.
“It took a little bit of warmth for that, but I think at the end of the day we made the right decision,” he said.
Mayor Kip Walby agreed.
“I have no doubt about it,” Walby said. “It’s a home run. “
