Apple and Mercedes-Benz today announced that Apple Music’s spatial audio feature with Dolby Atmos will be rolled out to choose Mercedes-Benz cars worldwide, adding the newest Mercedes-Maybach, EQS, EQS SUV, EQE and S-Class models.
As The Verge noted, audio requires a Mercedes-Benz vehicle with a Burmester 3-d or 4D audio system, which can charge thousands of dollars more.
Apple Music has been available directly through the MBUX infotainment formula in new Mercedes-Benz cars since last year. Spatial audio offers an immersive immersive listening experience that makes music feel like music is all around you. Spatial audio was introduced last year on devices like the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV, and now the feature is natively available in a car for the first time.
“Spatial Audio revolutionizes the way artists create and enthusiasts pay attention to music, and it’s a delight that can hardly be expressed in words; you have to hear it for yourself to appreciate it,” Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said in a press release. “With Mercedes-Benz, we now have even more opportunities to offer fully immersive music to our subscribers around the world. “
